Writing Groups

Peer writing groups have a long and proud tradition among accomplished writers. They operate on several important assumptions:

Writing is social.
Writing is collaborative.
Writing Groups help us stay on task.
Writing Group members contribute to the development of our writing and thinking by offering a range of perspectives and skills.

They break with the romantic fantasy many of us cherish of the poor, starving writer, toiling by candlelight in a garret, muffler round the neck, tips cut off the gloves, suffering for art. The Writing Center staff is eager to work with writers who are seeking other writers to meet together.
