Campus Library Reserves

Off-Campus Access Help/More Info

Course reserves is a service provided by the UWB/CCC Campus Library to support UW Bothell and Cascadia Community College courses. Course reserves are designed to provide a high level of access to material that is in demand by a large number of students. Reserve materials may include books owned by the UW Libraries and course readings.  Reserve books are shelved in an open reserve area and assigned short loan periods to optimize student access; high demand materials are shelved behind the Information Commons Desk.  Overdue fines are set at a high level to motivate borrowers to return material on time for use by other borrowers. All reserve materials are due at a specific hour.  Overdue fines are $2.50 for the first hour, then $.50 for each additional hour up to a $30 maximum fine. After the $30 maximum charge, a replacement cost is added.  A UW Libraries or Cascadia Community College borrower's card is required for checkout.  Course readings (e.g. book chapters, journal articles, lecture notes) are made available through electronic reserves (ERes).

Course Reserve Information

For Students:

  • How to Find Reserve Books and Reserve Policies
  • How to Use Electronic Reserves
  • Connect to Electronic Reserves (ERes)
  • Effective March 20, 2006, access to ERes will require your UW NetID.  If you are a Cascadia or UW student, faculty, or staff member, you will need your UW NetID for access.

Temporary UW NetIDs issued by Cascadia's Open Learning Center will not allow access to electronic reserves. If you did not use the online form to get your UW NetID, you do not have access to electronic reserves.

If you do not have a permanent UW NetID, please find instructions at:

Cascadia students, faculty, and staff: http://www.cascadia.ctc.edu/uwnetid.asp

UW students, faculty, and staff: http://www.washington.edu/computing/uwnetid/

    For Faculty:

    Adobe Reader

Most of the electronic reserve readings are in "PDF" (portable document format) which you can only open with Adobe Acrobat Reader.  Most campus terminals have this application. If you need it for your home or work computer, you can Download Adobe Acrobat Reader Software free of charge.
