Most of your application materials can be submitted directly online to your UW Graduate School Application file.
When applying online, read and follow all instructions carefully.
*All of the above application material (except for the UW Graduate School Application) may be submitted as hard copy documents.
The following application material must be submitted as hard copies directly to the UW Bothell Education Program.

Respond to the following questions. Your responses to all the essay questions must be contained within no more than three double-spaced pages. The relative length of each of your responses within these three pages is up to you, but the Admissions Committee will not read responses beyond the third page.
You may submit your essay directly to your UW Graduate School online application as a Word, PDF, or RTF document or you may mail a hard copy to the UW Bothell Education Program.
Provide three recommendations.
Recommendations can be submitted electronically by entering the recommenders' names and email addresses into your online application. Recommendations can also be submitted on the Letter of Recommendation (PDF) form directly to the UW Bothell Education Program. The form must be printed out and signed by the recommender prior to submission. Please do not submit additional recommendations.
Document a minimum of 60 hours of work with secondary and middle level school youth within the past two years. At least 30 of these hours must be in U.S. public high school classrooms. These hours must be completed prior to the application deadline. Additional hours of observation and experience in public school settings are highly recommended. The documentation of hours form(PDF) is available online and may be duplicated.
All applicants must document their college coursework that meets the requirements for the desired endorsement area(s). For examples of coursework that meets these requirements, refer to the Endorsement Course Requirements.
Document your endorsement area coursework, including the number of credits and grades (a minimum grade of 2.5 in coursework is required), on the Transcript Review Form(s) and save them to your computer. You may upload the saved PDFs to your Graduate School online application file.

All applicants to Washington-approved teacher preparation programs are required by the state to take the Washington Educator Skills Test-Basic (WEST-B).
The test consists of three separate subtests:
Please read the information carefully on the WEST-B website for test dates and score reporting dates. Score reports are a requirement for the Secondary Certification application.
All candidates for secondary endorsements are required to pass the appropriate WEST-E test. (For more information on the WEST-E tests, please visit the WEST-E Website).
