How to Access the Student File Server (formerly Hermes) from Off-Campus
- Open the Internet Explorer Browser.
- Click File on the menu bar, and then click Open.
- Note for IE7 Users:
- If your browser window is not displaying the Menu Bar that contains the File>Open... option you need to enable this menu bar by going to Tools, then selecting Menu Bar from the listed options as shown below.
- To access your personal folder:
- In the "Open" box, type the location of your folder on the network, which is https://webfiles.uwb.edu/students/home. Don't forget to type the 's' in "https".
- Check the box labeled 'Open as Web Folder' and click OK.
- To access folders for a class:
- In the "Open" box, type the location of your folder on the network, which is https://webfiles.uwb.edu/students/classes. Don't forget to type the 's' in "https".
- Check the box labeled 'Open as Web Folder' and click OK.
- To gain access to either folder, you will need to enter your login and password in the dialog box.
- Type in your UWNetID Username, for example: yourUWNetID@netid.washington.edu.
- Type in your UWNetID Password.
- Click OK.
- Your personal folder or class folder, which identified by your login name, should appear in the window that opens. Your files will be located in this folder. Select, and double-click the folder to open it, and access your files. You can now save directly to this folder and drag and drop files to this folder from your home computer.
- Once you have completed this process, you can access your folder by going to "My Network Places."
- Your connection to your personal folder will be accessible by double clicking on this link.
